Bringing the Community Together Through Food.
Nestled in the valley beneath Knowlton Church with the picturesque River Allen running alongside it, sits Fluffetts Barn. An old agricultural barn full of character, that has been carefully adapted to create a beautiful space, where people can learn, discover, gather and simply be.
The Barn has been created with 4 important themes in mind which are all separate threads but when woven together create their own unique tapestry.
Food distribution point – with the customer interest for more local produce ever increasing and us answering by expanding our home deliveries, this will be where we pack these orders and in time our mail order packages. It will also be a space for customers to collect their orders through Click & Collect. With its amazing outdoor courtyard, we also plan to hold local food markets here.
Education and Story Sharing – learning more about the provenance of our food is not only educational but also fun and exciting. The Barn will be our base where we will offer schools the opportunity to visit our free range egg farm to show and inform the children on the workings of a small family-run farm. We will also be working with the Home Education Community. We want to offer workshops, classes and talks – learning about essential time-honoured skills that are so necessary and in need of recognition and preservation.
Community – in these challenging times, community has never been so important; isolation, division and separation are ails of modern life which is in much need of nourishment. Communities are so important, to be there for each other, to learn from and support one another. Our aim is to have wonderful gatherings, music and pop up food evenings, where people can get together to eat, talk, laugh, enjoy music and dance.
Spiritual – one of the core driving forces is to create a space where people can reconnect with the values that are so easily lost with the intensity of modern day life and to remember the forgotten and most important part of what it is to be human. This will be explored and discussed through women’s circles, men’s circles, meditations, drumming workshops, gong baths, yoga classes, retreat days… the list of what can be offered in this space is endless.
Fluffetts Barn is a vessel for the community to use to create and realise their own visions. Please e-mail fluffettsbarn@gmail.com if you are interested in renting the space.
Thank you so much. Vey and Ben
